Smart Home Haven

An award-winning smart home with hidden audio, custom surround sound, and voice control.

Summary

This award-winning project also happens to be the home of our founder. With 15 zones of hidden audio, custom-designed surround sound, and Josh.ai voice control, the house is a model of all that’s possible with Maddox AV’s smart home technology solutions. These are just some of the things we make possible for our clients in Arnold, Severna Park, Alexandria, VA and beyond.

First, in-ceiling speakers were installed throughout the house to preserve its unique character without clutter. The lighting design features Ketra tunable fixtures that automatically adjust throughout the day, and when kids inevitably press the “Don’t Do It” button, every light in the house changes to a rainbow color. Using your home automation system, tell Josh.ai to “Act natural,” and lights return to their ‘natural’ style. Say “Goodnight,” and all the lights adjust to three percent brightness—just enough to see after dark.

And best for last, the family room’s entertainment system earned the 2023 Heritage of Innovation Award by Sonance Design Speakers. The vaulted, beamed ceilings posed a challenge for installation, so Maddox AV partnered with James Loudspeaker to build a custom 16-foot-wide soundbar angled at 43 degrees for optimal listening. With a subwoofer in the fireplace and a motorized screen that lowers eight feet, it’s the ultimate home theater in a living room setting.
